Mr. Hilbert N. Shields
President & CEO and Director
Mr. Hilbert N Shields, MSc., has over 28 eight years experience in the Mineral Exploration and Mining Industry, the core years consisting of 14 years with Golden Star Resources Inc., as Vice President with responsibility for gold exploration in Guyana and Venezuela and diamond exploration worldwide. Mr. Shields managed the exploration of Omai gold deposit in Guyana, from acquisition by Golden Star through to the completion of the Feasibility Study with the involvement of Cambior, and later became a Director of Omai Gold Mines Ltd. He was also responsible for the acquisition by Golden Star of the Gros Rosebel Property in Suriname and managed the early exploration of this, now Iamgold Inc. operated, producing mine. He was also a member of the successful acquisition and transition management team of the Bogosu Mine in Ghana, again for Golden Star. Mr. Shields attained a Bachelors Degree in Geology & the Environment from Oxford Brooks University, United Kingdom, and a Masters Degree in Geology from the Mackay School of Mines, University of Nevada, Reno, USA. His career has been spent acquiring global experience through exploring, evaluating prospects and/or mining either Gold, Diamond or Bauxite in a number of countries. In 2000 he resigned from Golden Star and founded his own companies holding bauxite and gold Mining and Exploration Concessions in Guyana. In late 2001 to early 2002 he was attached to the Adam Smith Institute of the UK, to provide consulting services to the Government of Guyana as they consolidated operatorship of the Berbice River Bauxite Mines. For two years from 2002, he was a senior member of the management team of the Aroaima Bauxite Mining Company, which produced 1.2 million tons per year of metallurgical, chemical and cement grade bauxite. Mr. Shields was also the Chairman of the Mining Chapter of the National Development Strategy, a Carter Center of the USA funded, private sector blueprint, for the development of Guyana, which was adopted by its national parliament.
Mr. Ian Fodie
CFO & Director
Mr. Fodie brings extensive international accounting, finance, and capital markets experience to First Bauxite. Most recently, Mr. Fodie has acted as CFO of Lithium Americas Corp., President & CEO of Woulfe Mining Corp., and CFO of Resinco Capital Partners Inc. Mr. Fodie obtained his Chartered Accountant designation from the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and has resided in Canada for over 22 years.
Mr. George Bennett
COO & Director
A 1960 Applied Science graduate of Queens University with a degree in Engineering Geology Mr Bennett has over 50 years involvement with the exploration, mining, production and sale of industrial minerals with specific focus on Refractories. Starting as a Mine Surveyor's Assistant at the underground magnesite mining operations of Canadian Refractories in Kilmar, Quebec he progressed up the organization to the position of Canadian Operations Manager with responsibility for Harbison - Walker's mining, beneficiation, sintering, refractory brick and monolithics production. In the latter portion of his work tenure in Canada he was seconded to Harbison - Walker's foreign operations to assist with start-up refractory operations at Oberhausen, Germany and at Mobarrekeh, Iran. At various times in his career Mr. Bennett has been involved in exploration and assessment activities for chromite, andalusite, magnesite, graphite, bauxite and clays at various sites around the world; this in addition to mapping activities for the Quebec Department of Mines, seismic exloration and well drilling for both Esso and Shell Canada. In 1994 Mr. Bennett transferred to Pittsburgh, USA to manage the International Licensing and Technology Sales Division of Harbison - Walker Refractories Company with administrative responsibility for all existing licenses as well as development of new technology clients with attendant negotiation of terms. New licensees were developed and technology sold in India, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Japan, Italy and Brasil. In subsequent years Mr. Bennett's responsibility was enlarged to include global refractories marketing responsibility excluding Europe and North America. Mr. Bennett closed out his refractory employment as Director, USA Mining and Minerals Division of ANH Refractories with concurrent secondment to dispose of non-core corporate entities such as Shred-Tech, Polymer Pipe Technologies, and Corrosion Technology, Inc. As an Industrial Minerals Consultant assistance was provided to the Guyana and Peru refractory alumino-silicate industries on technical operating issues and in establishment of their global marketing and distribution organization for refractory and chemical grade bauxites.
Mr. Jess Hutchinson
VP Marketing & Product Development
A Bachelor of Science Graduate of the University of Virginia with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mr. Hutchinson has over 25 years experience in the minerals and manufacturing industries, with significant exposure to Refractories. Mr. Hutchinson has held various project and product management and application engineering positions, Market & Product Development Manager, and VP International Operations at Harbison-Walker over a 23 year period, followed by EVP Worldwide Sales & Marketing at Global Industrial Technologies (GIX), where he materially increased sales and reduced overheads, and Chief Executive Officer of RHI America, where he successfully completed a merger integration plan. Mr. Hutchinson experience illustrates his ability to create international sales channels and increase market share.
Mr. Ioannis (Yannis) Tsitos
Interim Chairman & Director
Mr. Tsitos, MSc., has over 25 years experience in the Mining Industry, having spent 19 years with BHP Billiton group. Mr. Tsitos has lived and worked in South Africa, Ecuador, Greece and United Kingdom, and has been working in Canada since 2000. Originally a physicist-geophysicist, he left BHP Billiton in December 2007, where he had the title of New Business Manager for Minerals Exploration based in Vancouver. He holds a B.Sc degree in Physics from the University of Athens and a Master's degree in Applied Geophysics and Geology from the University of Birmingham, U.K. In addition, he has done management and finance studies as part of an MBA program with Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh. Mr. Tsitos brings to the Company a wealth of knowledge and extensive experience in the mining sector focused on exploration and development for a wide spectrum of commodities, from gold, base metals, nickel and diamonds to bulk minerals such as bauxite, coal and iron ore. Well-known in the Canadian and international exploration communities, he has worked on projects and has travelled for business in 32 countries. He has been instrumental in the identification, negotiation and execution of more than 50 exploration agreements with juniors, majors, as well as with state exploration and mining companies. Mr. Tsitos has also been part of two discovery teams with BHP Billiton in porphyry-copper and nickel-sulphide deposits. He is a member of the Association for Minerals Exploration British Columbia and Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada. He is currently also President and CEO of Stronghold Metals Inc.
Mr. Lee Graber
Director
Mr. Lee Graber has over 30 years of relevant experience in the mining industry, including 23 years with Homestake Mining Company. As Vice President, responsible for corporate development, Lee initiated, managed and closed 55 major acquisitions and divestment transactions totalling $9.2 Billion. Subsequent to Homestake, Lee served as Managing Director, Mergers and Acquisitions for Endeavour Financial Ltd in Vancouver advising junior resource companies, he consulted for clients developing non-metallic mineral deposits and served as a director of resource companies in Thailand, West Africa, Russia and Canada.
Mr. Larry Washow
Director
Mr. Washow had a distinguished career with AMCOL International from 1986-2010 rising to President & CEO. Mr. Washow brings strong financial business acumen to First Bauxite and extensive experience in building strong management teams and high-performing operations in both domestic and international markets.
Mr. Demetreus (Jim) Heras
Director
Mr Heras is a well-known businessman and entrepreneur and during his career he has been a director and executive of several private and public companies, having raised over $100 million dollars in financings. He has been President and owner of World Wide Seafoods from 1997 to present and of Seven Seas Fish Co. from 1967 to 1997. In the mid-nineties he was Director and Chairman of the Board of St. Philips Resources Inc., and negotiated the agreement with Royal Oak Mines on the Kemess copper-gold deposit (which later became a mine) in British Columbia and the final acquisition of St. Philips Resources by Royal Oak Mines. He was Director and President of Highgrade Ventures Ltd. from April 1993 to 2000 (subsequently this company was named Brasilca Mining Corp.). Mr. Heras is also Director of Stronghold Metals Inc. In addition, he has has held various directorships in private and public companies in land development and other real estate ventures.
Mr. Howard Winkelbauer
Technical Director, Products
A Bachelor of Science Graduate of Edinboro University with a degree in Geology and a Master of Science Graduate of Miami University with a degree in Geology specializing in Experimental Mineralogy, Mr. Winkelbauer has 19 years of experience in the research and technology development field for Harbison-Walker Refractories and further senior research roles with RHI America and ANH Refractories. Mr. Winkelbauer’s is an accomplished writer with a number of technical publications being released and his research has resulted in 11 US patents being recorded, many related to refractory products and processes. Mr. Winkelbauer’s technical developments have led to significant cost savings in the manufacturing process of various products.
